Arroyo de la Miel: Yesterday saw the opening of a new exhibition at La Reina gallery in Tivoli World. “Vision of Andalucía” by Carmen Bonilla is a collection of 29 works which “express the essence of this land”. The exhibition runs until July 25th and is open every day from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Fuengirola: Today sees the opening of a new exhibition at the Riviera Frames Gallery in Calle Miguel de Unamuno in fuengirola. Work by watercolour artist and specialist in floral designs Jo Rutland, and Greek portrait art specialist Milton Johanides will be on display until July 24th.

Estepona: Now on display in the Sofitel Las Dunas Hotel is work by artist Joseph Delmeire. After his success in Paris, New York and Brussels, Delmeire’s paintings can be viewed until August 8th.

Almuñécar: The Casa de la Cultura is currently host to an exhibition of Jazz Posters by artist Juan Vida, open until July 30th.

Benalmádena: Oil paintings by Manuel Moral Santiago and Rafael Rivilla can be viewed until July 29th in the Castillo Bil-Bil.

Arroyo de la Miel: This evening, Friday July 16th, Sevilla singer Pastora Soler will be on stage in the theatre at Tivoli World at 10 p.m. and again at 12 midnight. The following day, Saturday 17th, the group “El Barrio” will be on the same stage at the same times.

San Roque: The province of Cadiz’s 4th International Blues and Jazz Festival takes place at the Juan Luis Galiardo theatre this evening, Friday July 16th, at 11 p.m. with the group “Raise The Roof”.

Malaga: Singer Dulces Pontes and her group of musicians will be on stage this evening, Friday 16th, in the Cervantes theatre, at 8.30 p.m.

Mijas The Marbella Big Band is performing in the municipal auditorium in Mijas Pueblo on Saturday July 17th at 10 p.m. The concert is organised by the Calahonda Lions Club and is in aid of the local disabled association ADIMI.

Torremolinos: The “Flauta Mágica” orchestra will be performing in the Picasso cultural centre on Saturday 17th at 9 p.m.

Estepona: Bonnie Tyler and UB40 can be seen in concert this Saturday July 17th at 10 p.m. in the bullring in Estepona.

Malaga: The city’s summer concerts continue on Sunday July 18th with jazz singer Bobby McFerrin at the Cervantes theatre at 8 p.m. Then on Tuesday July 20th the Michael Nyman Quartet accompanied by Sarah Leonard will be on the same stage at 8.30 p.m. Finally Natacha Atlas will be at the theatre on Wednesday July 21st.

Estepona: David Lenker can be seen in concert in the Parque del Calvario in Estepona on Tuesday July 20th. Admission is free.

Fuengirola: The Mystic Music Festival takes place on Wednesday July 21st in the Sohail Castle when the Spanish groups Sober, Dover and Sexy Sadie will be on stage. The event starts at 8 p.m.

Torremolinos: Ballroom dancing couples will be giving a demonstration in the Plaza de la Independencia on July 21st at 10 p.m.

Marbella: This coming Wednesday July 21st the Hotel Puente Romano, in collaboration with Awesome Events, presents “Blondie” live in concert on the centre court at the tennis club. As well as performing old classics the stars of American pop, fronted by Debbie Harry, will be presenting their new album “The Curse of Blondie”.

Fuengirola: In the musical theatre festival this weekend the Spanish version of “The Magic of Broadway” takes over from “Peter Pan” with performances in the Palacio de la Paz on July 16th, 17th and 18th.

Carmen: Fairs and celebrations in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron of seafarers and fishermen are taking place throughout this weekend in many coastal areas. These include La Carihuela, Rincón de la Victoria, where musical entertainment is provided by Antonio Orozco and David Bustamante, among others, Malaga, Estepona, Campanillas, Los Boliches, Marbella, Nerja and many more.

Ojén: This weekend, July 17th and18th, sees an alternative street culture festival known as “Callejeando Festival Cultura Alternativa” which includes exhibitions, street markets, performances and a classical music concert in the local church.

Marbella The annual Triple A gala dinner takes place this Saturday July 17th at the Finca El Llano del Almendro from 9 p.m.

Estepona: The Marbella-Puerto Banús Lions Club is holding its grand charity gala on Thursday July 22nd at the Sofitel Las Dunas Beach Hotel from 8.30 p.m. Tel. 952814015.

Fuengirola: This Sunday July 18th there’s a fish and chip supper in aid of the animal welfare charity PAD, (Protección de Animales Domésticos). This takes place at Joey’s Chippy on the seafront at 7 p.m. Tel. 952466957/952486084.

Mijas Costa: F.A.M.A. (Foundation for Abandoned and Mistreated Animals) are having Karaoke fund raising evening at El Potro on Thursday 22nd July. Tel. 952470284 for more information.
