El Campillo fire started by careless BBQers

The middle-aged couple accused of starting the forest fire in El Campillo (Huelva) on Sunday have been charged with negligence after leaving a barbecue unattended, and will face further legal proceedings. Guardia Civil sources confirm that the fire was started accidentally which is why the couple, aged 50 and 51, were not remanded into custody.
The fire broke out when sparks from their barbecue ignited nearby vegetation while the couple were eating their lunch inside. Around 1,000 hecatres of scrub land, pasture and forest were destroyed by the blaze which forced the temporary evacuation of more than 100 residents and the closure of several roads.
